Concerts, worth it or not?

Concerts, worth it or not?

Its a common question among music lovers all over the world, are concerts or gigs (as many people refer to them) worth the hassle and expense to see an unpolished, and natural version of some of your favourite songs? In most cases yes it is and certainly very fulfilling to see your favourite band and hear your favourite songs live. Certainly there are some cases where you get an absolute disaster of a performance from a band and is most certainly NOT enjoyable, anything from a boring group who just play their music and go home to the ones who sound like they've picked up their respective instruments for the first time, oh yes you do get some whoppers. So when you do get a bad band you can be completely turned off going to gigs and possibly the band.
Good gigs however are a very worthwhile experience, there's something about them, unexplainable to an extent. The only way to describe it is magical. I was lucky, my first two gigs were both my favourite bands and they smashed it, got me hooked on going. Once you get bitten by the bug you will want to go to every other show whether you know 2 songs or their entire catalogue. With that said they can be expensive but there are plenty of smaller bands that play small gigs often for less than a tenner!
Overall i would recommend going to concerts and if you havent ever been to one, GO! You can make up your own mind after that, its the only way to know. On a side note if you're not sure beforehand, whether the band is going to be good or not, use one simple website, YouTube. You are guaranteed footage from previous gigs and often in very good quality but with that said don't make a judgement based on the poor quality videos. But overall they are a great way of judging the quality of a band performing live.
I hope this helps anyone looking to go to a concert in the future.
